Secret Ways To Overcome Pre-Party Nerves!

Hello hello! I hope you have all had a great week and a super chilled Sunday! Today I wanted to chat to you about something I know all too well, and after speaking to a lot of other people, they do too! After experiencing a few house parties over the festive period, I realised that the nerves experienced before hand can be quite unhelpful and actually quite hard to shut out sometimes. I felt slightly stupid in this so I wanted to chat to a few of my other friends to see if they had experienced anything similar, and after doing so I figured I wasn’t so alone! I decided to come up with a list of secret ways I overcome pre-party nerves and here it is!


Go with a trusted friend

This is such a great confidence booster! If you are a person who gets butterflies before a party, you should definitely plan to get ready at a friend’s house, or vice versa, and then go to it with them. It can be super intimidating turning up on your own if none of your close peeps are there yet! The awkward small-talk will only heighten any nerves you have so try to avoid that at all costs!

Obviously wear something nice, but make sure you are comfortable

This one has really worked for me in the past. Don’t get me wrong, I love nothing more than picking out a swish outfit to wear to any occasion, but for me it always has to be equally as comfortable. If you have a super tight dress on, it’s going to make your whole body feel super tight, with a load of nervous tension which isn’t helpful. Also a big thing for me about being nervous is actually being able to breathe properly! So if I’m wearing something that is so figure hugging you can’t even get a gasp of air (you know the ones…) I’m never going to feel at ease!

Distract yourself

You should never just sit around and wait doing nothing before a party if your anxious, that’s probably the worst thing you could do. You need to take your mind of things and relax yourself. Maybe read a few pages of the book you have been obsessing over, maybe you could play a game on your phone that you’re addicted too (probs best to avoid the social meeds!) Anything to just completely take your mind off thinking about what’s ahead of you.

Know that the toilet is the best place for escapism

Even after all of these pre-party nerves, they might start to flare up during the party too! Sometimes this can feel quite suffocating and you might feel as though you are trapped in a situation you really don’t want to be in. My solution to this problem is the nearest toilet, a quiet, calm place where you can collect your thoughts and take a few deep breaths. No one is suspicious of what you’re doing, they are non-the-wiser of what is going on and it’s the perfect excuse to get out of an uncomfortable situation! Loo’s for the win I say!
