During my current GCSE stress, I’ve found it difficult to find a place in my house where I haven’t revised or worked yet. I wanted to create a small space where I could feel totally at ease and relax during my work breaks. And then I had a little idea! The window sills in my house are suuuuuper thick, I can actually sit in them. So I decided to make use of the window in my bedroom, which had been gathering clutter and dust for a long ol time.
So here is how I made my DIY calm corner and what I have put in it!
I popped down a little grey blanket I picked up from Primark to make it all the more cosy. A cold, wooden window ledge isn’t really the vibe I was going for! Thankfully, it was just the right size and fitted perfectly. I stole a pillow off my bed so that my back didn’t hurt too. I find myself constantly hunching over when I’m revising and it’s not great, I really need to work on my posture actually! I also popped a mirror in there because I thought I’d need it if I wanted to do a little skin care.
My mood is completely dependent on my surroundings, so it was a necessity that every accessory was rose gold! I can’t remember where I got the little crates from but I used to keep my makeup in them, I just emptied them out haha. I did a little basket of all my calm/pamper essentials which included:
- Fluffy socks ( a must…hehe! )
- Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream
- Clinique Pep-Start Moisturiser
- Body Shop mango hand cream
- EOS vanilla lip balm
Just some little skin care bits for if I’m feeling a bit down or grotty!
I also gathered together a few of my favourite reads, 3 issues of the TeenBreathe magazine (because if you don’t own one of these, you’re missing out!), Calm by Fearne Cotton because the lady is just bladdy wonderful and Cordially Invited by Zoe Sugg 1) because I’m obsessed and 2) because she never fails to lift my mood! I also popped a little colouring book in there because I loveeee a little doodle every now and again.
And to finish it all off, I wrapped fairy lights around everything. To me, fairy lights equal cosy and cosy equals fairy lights, it’s pretty simple! Especially at night time, I couldn’t think of anything more glorious!
So, I hope that inspired you to get your calm on, and get creating. This post was a little different to my usual so if you enjoyed it, why not give it a like!
Thank you so much 🙂
Lot’s of love,
